Kaspersky
Anti-Virus is a part of Kaspersky Lab and known for its real-time protection,
detection and removal of the virus, malware, spam, and many new online threats.
It is outlined for the PC running Windows and Mac.
There
are certain actions to be taken after installing Kaspersky Anti-Virus, perform
the following steps-
§ In the application database update task, configure
the connection to the update source using Kaspersky Lab HTTP or FTP update servers.
§ Run the application database update task.
Perform
the following actions as listed below in the Application database update task,
to configure the connection with Kaspersky Lab update tasks-
1.
You need to open
the Kaspersky Anti-Virus console.
2.
Click on the
option ‘Start’ button, followed by ‘Programs’
3.
Select the
option ‘Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition’
4.
Click on the
option ‘Administration Tools’ followed by ‘Kaspersky Anti-Virus MMC Console’.
5.
In case you have
started Kaspersky Anti-Virus console on PC other than the protected server then
connect to the protected server-
·
Right-click on
‘Kaspersky Anti-Virus snap-in
·
Select ‘Another
PC’ to connect from the context menu.
·
Enter the
protected server name in the input field.
Note- If the user account which you’re using to log-in to
the Microsoft Windows doesn’t have the permission to access Kaspersky
Anti-Virus Management on the server, then mention a particular user account
that has such permissions.
6.
The Kaspersky
Anti-Virus console window opens up.
7.
Select the
‘update’ intersection in the Kaspersky Anti-Virus console tree.
8.
Open the context
menu on the ‘Application database update’.
9.
Select the option
‘Settings’.
10. In the ‘Properties’ option select the ‘Application
database update’ dialog window.
11. Do the following steps, in case-
·
If Web Proxy
Auto-Discovery Protocol (WPAD) isn’t configured on the network you’re using
then you need to automatically detect the proxy server settings in the LAN.
You need to mention the
proxy server settings – in the ‘Proxy server settings’ group > Select the
‘Use Custom proxy server settings’ > Enter the address in the ‘Address
field’ > Enter ‘the port number’ for the proxy server in the port field.

If the network
requires authentication while accessing the Proxy Server, select the necessary
authentication method in the Proxy server authentication settings group-
o Use
NTLM-authentication- If the proxy
server supports the built-in Microsoft Windows NTLM authentication. Kaspersky
Anti-Virus will use the user account specified in the task to access the proxy
server.
Note- By default, the task will run under the Local system
(SYSTEM) user account)
o Use
NTLM-authentication by name and password- If
the proxy server supports the built-in Microsoft Windows NTLM authentication.
For accessing the proxy server Kaspersky Anti-Virus will use the account
specified.
Tips-
Enter the username and password or select a user from the list.
o Use login name
and password to select the basic
authentication. Enter the username and password.
Or,
Select a user from the list.
12. Select the ‘Ok’
button, after clicking on the ‘Properties’ >’Application database update’
dialog window.
Note- You have configured the settings for connecting with
the update source in the Application database update task. Now you need to run the task.

Follow
the steps to run the Application database update task-
1. Expand the ‘Update’ node, in the Kaspersky
Anti-Virus console tree.
2. Open the
context menu on the ‘Application database update task’.
3. Select the ‘Start’ command.
4. After the task has successfully completed, you can
view the release date of the latest database updates installed in the Kaspersky
Anti-Virus node.
